pedal choice is such a personal thing that it's normally assumed that the buyer will have his/her own

because people use different pedal systems and so leaving them on does not increase the value enough to offset the loss of the pedals.
|
It's easier to box and ship too.

I'd be annoyed to have to pay for pedals on a new or used bike that were not the kind I used/wanted.
What about saddles? Seems that saddles are often cheapened down on new bikes as many/most will get replaced - but are on there as shop unlikely wants to slap saddles on each time a test ride is needed and are aesthetically more important to look than pedals. The saddle on my new Jamis Sputnik was a Fizik Pave - cheap looking most uncomfortable saddle ever. Its lightweight, thats why I bet its on there, to bring the advertized weight of bike below 17lbs. bikes are often sold without bartape, saddles, or pedals because these three contact points are usually decided according to personal preference...
|
Same goes for saddles. I've always kept my saddles and replaced them with whatever I found in my junk box prior to each sale.

Currently my favorite saddle I swap between my two bikes as I switch between them so rarely. Al |

EVERY bike that i've seen that is "missing" a part is usually sold without the pedals, but with bar tape and a saddle. This is usually on upper mid-higher end road bikes- most of the low-mid end ones just come with stock cheap clipless pedals, or clips/straps on the really cheap ones. Presuambly mountain bikes would follow a similar pattern, but i'm not too qualified to comment on those. |
this is why I buy framesets and build up from there... EVERYTHING on a bike is personal fit... not everybody realizes it until after they've bought a preassembled bike :)
|
Get a Magna. They come with everything!
|
the seat sold on a bike is *usu* going to be one the seller doesn't care for much. i know i would keep the saddle i like and put a different one on there for the sale, if at all. as for pedals, i ride crank bros stuff, so why would i want to sell a pair just to turn around and have to buy another pair for the next ride. i mean, if i sell one bike i am def gettin' another. =)

etr
a personal choice,that's a reasonable rational.
|
psh I ain't selling you my atacs with my old bike yo but I have been known to sell a bike minus the whole cockpit
|
I had my feet surgically removed and replaced with pedals so.....
