Bolt-on Disc-Cog - Availability?
So, I know there have been threads about this in the past, but....
Does anyone know where I can actually get ahold of one of the fixed-gear cogs that bolts onto the standard 6-bolt iso disc rotor mount?
I know a few people said they got some from Kogswell, and if so - how did you manage it?
I e-mailed the kogswell people several times, and they obviously don't want to sell them, because they never responded to me.
So...anyone know of a place that actually sells them, prefferrably online? I know I could take a regular cog to a machine shop and have them drill it, but the cost of doing so kind of defeats the purpose of the cog in the first place.
Thanks!

Yeah..They look sweet as all get-out, but $45 (incl. shipping) for a 16t cog is mighty hefty.

I guess $45 isn't bad. But really, manufacturing a simple steel disc-cog would be soooo easy if you were already making cogs. Shimano BMX cogs are only a few bucks, and you'd just need to drill six holes in them before youheat-treated them. I'm just surprised that there is nobody out there doing this.

I mean, I agree that there is nothing about the item that makes it necessarily so expensive, not having to do threads should make them hugely cheaper to make than normal track cogs. I'm just saying that given the amount of money people spend on every other part of the bike around here, these things aren't bad at all.

I was just hoping to buy a pile of different sized cogs for that much, and have the ability to swap them freely and easily. Unfortunately, Kogswell and everyone else who supposedly makes them seem to snub my e-mails, and don't have any way to just buy them off their website.
When I do get a cog, though, fixed-gear mountainbiking in the snow is going to be amazing!

The boone cogs are not just drilled out BMX cogs. They are milled with a shoulder that fits the ISO mount. Better by design, but who knows in practice.

Maybe a small purchase like a cog isn't worth their time, but some kind of response would be nice. And it was a few companies, not just kogswell - I don't want to pick on them, I just heard from several people that they really do make them.

And I remember the guy even saying something to the effect of "please send me an e-mail, and we'll arrange something". How lame is that?

Plus, in my case the shipping would be extra, and seems to be pretty steep, even though that sprocket could nicely fit in a simple envelope.

I emailed Kogswell about 2 weeks ago, and got a response in 1 day. Matt sent me a paypal invoice for a cog, and I had it within a week.

yep, found it: sent Jan. 19th, to info@kogswell.com.
I'll try to send an e-mail from my corporate account. That seems to always get people's attention. Aaaahh... people are so shallow....

you could also take a drill to the cheap old crappy cog of y0our choice, unless its a nice bike and it needs a nice cog. Still, 8 speed cogs work great, but take a long time to drill.
