I just moved to Portland a couple weeks ago.. if you use the search function and Portland as the key word a lot of threads already are around.

you'll probably wind up working for a ****ty company like transerve (ian correct me if I'm wrong on this one). From the times that I've ridden alleycats here and talked to messengers it seems like pdx has a really tight scene...people seem to get grandfathered into the good jobs. Everybody else winds up working for transerve wearing the ******** looking red helmet covers.
Plus it rains like a motner ****er here. And there's a meth problem. Actually you'd probalby be better off going back to where you came from.

The meth epidemic is so overrated it's not even funny. Sinfield, do you live near 82nd or are you just chronically sarcastic? If neither, I want to hear some meth stories and pronto.

Some jerk wad the stole the light and light fixture off our porch, that's about as close to meth story as I come. Well I guess there was a meth dealer (I think it was just a dealer) with a bunch of illegal guns arrested in an apartment down the street from my house back in september. And hey, I don't even live on 82nd.
I really don't give a flippin flack though.

If I didn't have uh...yeah, that one thing keeping me here, I would move in a heartbeat.
i was thinking of...seattle?

I live in Corvallis, 75 miles south of Portland. 85% of all of our crimes are meth related. It's a problem. To call it overrated is naive...

Seattle's not great, but it's definitley a step in the right direction. If I was considering moving here I'd probably look for something farter afield...like say Kansas (hey, if the greatest ballad rock band of all time is named after that state it's gotta be pretty kick ass right?)
Did I mention the weather here? Awful. And the crowds of meth zombies wandering through the city searching for blood/ bike parts to fiddle with? Very 28 days later.
Clif Notes: Bad scene, don't come.

**** yeah, I can name atleast 6 or 7 good places to eat within a mile radius of my house, all within varying price ranges, ethnicities, and character. And I work at one of them
And if you like good coffee, you're pretty much in heaven here. Stumptown anyone? Same with good beers, good weed, good chocolate, good tea, etc.
P.S. piratically, sinfield was blatantly sarcastic in that last post. vbmenu_register("postmenu_3804486", true);

I stayed in Portland for about 2 weeks, and fell in love with The Alibi. Vintage Tiki, AND a guy named "Tear Gas" singing karaoke to "Wonderful Tonight"?! Can't be beat.
Weather was fine. Powell's is heaven. Can't pump your own gas. Too many hills (you need to flatten the northwest side a bit).
