Newb questions
Hello all,
I've been browsing the forums the last couple of months and after I finally got my bike, I decided to join up. I had a couple of newb questions. First, where do you get those kewl pants/shorts? I was gonna make a pair out of cut up BDUs but didn't want to look like a dork. Also, is it better if I don't use a brake? I know a lot of guys who ride w/ a brake who get made fun of for not being hardcore enough. I don't want to like like one of those hipster guys but i was thinking of doing one of those cat alley races and didn't want to look like a posuer.

brakes are for babies. if you want to be hardcore and not a poser then no brake for you!!! make sure to also use a big gear and no lockring, don't be dumm. lockrings are for total cry baby wimps that kiss their mothers and hold their dad's hand... and you wouldn't want that!!

If you go to an alleycat, make sure you leave your shoes at home.

Didn't John Hughes make a lot of movies covering this same anxiety over acceptance? I suggest you watch the John Waters' movies "Hairspray" and "Crybaby" for some inspiration.
