130mm Chainring

Hi, Ive been searching the forum, ebay and google for the past hour trying to a 130mm chainring. Im having the hardest time finding something for 40 or under and I dont want a rocket chainring simply because I hear they arent that great. So any reccomendations would be great.

Also whats a good gear ratio? I like in Oakland/San Francisco, so its a mix of straight roads and hills. Thanks guys.

Do you plan to skid? Run brakes?

You worry too much. Rocket rings are just fine. I'm using one with an old pair of Shimano 105 cranks on my winter/rain beater and its working flawlessly. I skid and ride plenty of hills. The only problem with Rocket rings, is that they don't fit on some cranks very well. The bolt holes are positioned corectly for 130BCD, but the inside diameter of the ring is a little too small. I had to dremel mine a little to get it to fit onto my cranks, but it wasn't a big deal. You may not have this problem with other cranks.

I dont plan on running brakes and I dont plan on awhole lot of skidding. Whats a common ratio for an area like Oakland/SF?

I put your numbers through the quadratic formula and it says your ideal gear is 72.82345673 inches.

seriously, 70-75 inches ought to do you fine, you will have to fine tune it for yourself. If you are a noob you best run a brake though.
