I need to come clean...

and just finally admit that I do have what some would call a bike problem, but I like to think of it as a blossoming relationship. And maybe some of you would agree with me, and not them?

I have a frame that is in the process of becoming a functioning bicycle, and last night I had dreams about how it would look in a few weeks, upon completion.

I just thought I should be honest with everyone.

Have a nice Friday, especially if you get a ride in.

Those are just the early signs. Treated early, and aggressively, you could be fully cured. On the other hand if you don't heed the warnings, you could have an incurable case. Here's hoping you ignore them, you'll be in good company here.

be careful. it could be malaria...malaria's tricky like that.

Im starting to wish someone would take my debit card away or something, tween bike parts and computer parts Im getting broke.

nayr497 02-09-07 08:03 PM

That is funny pedex since I often find myself asking, "Wow, how did someone put together a bicycle that nice looking?" And you just answered my question: we all spend a whole lot of money (and time, and effort) on bicycles, but they are still pretty inexpensive forms of personal transportation when it comes down to it.

My credit card bill this month might hit a new record, thanks to the winter building project. But hey, it's okay since I know people 'round here will understand.

pedex 02-09-07 08:09 PM

ya well, the new fixed gear frame from IRO comes out of my account in about 2 weeks, too late, another bike is on the way !! I couldnt pass up a $150 frame, just couldnt do it..........even if I have to get rid of the mtb

it's all good clean fun. as long as you don't get carried away, i think it's fine. btw, does having a complete bike or bike frame in each room or your apartment and even 2 projects locked outside getting carried away? oh man...i need help.

MarkWW 02-10-07 02:18 AM

I used to think I bought too many bike parts for the money I had. Now I think I don't have enough money for the bike parts I want.

No, we dream of finding the fabled Head of Vecna, with which we have the power to defeat the Dread Dire Gazebo.

Wow. That's poetry to my geeky ears.

I think we should start a debit card spoke card exchange; everyone sends off their plastic to another member who renders it unusable by sticking it in their wheel.

What I didn't realise is that this sort velosomnia is contagious. I do it from time to time, but recently my girlfriend started dreaming about my bike too.

Also, I have a recurring dream about being able to bunnyhop 5ft into the air.

I dont know if its an advanced stage of cabin fever here in the cold Norf East,
But I am building a chopper bicycle. In the engineering(?) process I went through
the exact same R.E.M. fantisisms before I damaged my credit card.

If you want to free yourself of such behavior, you must seek help.

There is only ONE that can help... he can cleanse you of this... from the Island of Okinawa:

Grand Master: Gotei Kashawa!!!

scotthorrigan 02-10-07 09:06 AM

i actually think i said this last night during my drunken stupor....

"I wish my bike had a vaginia, that way I wouldn't need her (pointed to my girlfriend). psh, women, who needs em, yakaty yakaty yak yak."

Gordo789 02-10-07 11:17 AM

I had a dream the other night that I would win this bike im bidding on on ebay. It might be coming true in a few hours.

andre nickatina 02-10-07 11:19 AM

Man, the thought of building up my new bike has been the last thing in my mind before going to bed and probably the first thing on my mind every morning for the last two weeks... today's payday so I can finally get all the rest of the parts assembled, woohoo :)

municipal_man 02-10-07 11:57 AM

I'm working on building up my old Schwinn Le Tour into a functioning bike again. I spend most of my mornings reading up online, and most of my day daydreaming about the parts I want, talking to people about thier bikes, checking out other bikes for inspiration... and the rest of my day reluctantly working to be able to afford it.

estratton 02-10-07 02:09 PM

I once woke up in the middle of the night and told my girlfriend "I love my bicycle" and then rolled over and went back to sleep.

yeah..... she was not so happy in the AM.

schnee 02-10-07 02:23 PM

My girlfriend says... "You have me and a bike... a lover, and a mistress. Most times, I'm not sure which one I am."
