are you f-ing serious? tell us all that happened so that we might learn (and laugh and be entertained) |
Yeah....about that Ti frame. Downtube was trashed - someone drove into the garage with the bike on their roof rack. I'd have repaired it and ridden it myself, but funds were not permitting so I sold it on eBay for a tidy profit. Same day I pulled out an old, early-90s Trek OCLV road fork in perfect condition, some bar ends, and a set of pedals. I often pull out tacoed wheels that I cut the hubs out of - most are of decent quality, just needing bearing work. I have a box full of hubs now that I have no idea what to do with. As for tires, the shop in question slashes every ****ing tire they throw away so people can't scavenge them. WTF? Once in a while I'll find a low-end Bontrager 700c tire that isn't slashed, but other than that everything usable is pretty much wasted by the knife.

why would they do this ? |
Beats the hell out of me. Liability? A world-hating employee or manager that detests the thought of anyone getting a tire for free.
|
this type of neanderthal will be responsible for the uninhabitability of the planet
bike tires are limited resource dontchaknow |

this thread is about dumpster diving not personal responsibility or murderers
besides id like to think that ol george w is a murderer despite not having fought in iraq telling ppl what to do and what |

kill rock stars. start with marilyn manson imoz |
first of all, how is marilyn manson an issue outside of 1997?
second, george bush is the president in charge of the military, as in he's "legaly" in command of what they do, sure, arrest him I'm cool with that because the army can't say no, well they can but that's another issue. Charles Manson is just some crazy short dude, no one had a responsibility to do what he said, that was them thinking he was awesome. there's a huge difference between the president of the united states and a folk singer. |
You Can Not Ignore The Spooky Kid
|
are you seriously dropping some marilyn manson trivia on this forum?...
|
dustinlikewhat: like i said, i was being that guy.
anyways, i'm planning on rockin' behind one of the local shops tonight. report to follow if i find anything of good measure. |
ok, so when you're "just being that guy" it's cool, but when I'm "just being that guy" it's not? I'll see you in a steel cage.

winner goes to jail for murder
loser dies here is a question: what kind of dumpsters should you not dive? |
The kinds with the built in compacter.
I went last night, got some good paperbacks and a folding chair. |

i actually made a run to the local beer dumpster last night only to go home empty handed. I never dig in too deep as I usually go in at night and don't want stick my hand into a pile of broken glass, but last night was particularly disappointing.
as for the bike shop cutting the tires, i'm assuming it's a liability issue. on the other hand, where i work everyone keeps the rideable tires that people ask to have thrown away. a few times a week we get roadies who throw out foldables that they didn't like and they make great spares, or even something to fuel a raging skidding habit. also, i've gotten a handful of nice stems from old folks who swap them out for incredibly tall ones so they can sit perfectly upright on their old road bikes. currently rocking a brand new nitto dynamic that i got for free from one of those scenarios. still waiting to hear the story from the guy who got caught diving... |
