Raleigh or The Raleigh?

What's the difference? I recently bought a road bike frame and the logos say "The Raleigh" and there's a red and gold logo of some kind of bird...and it says it was made in Canada....can anyone explain the difference between Raleigh and The Raleigh, if any?
