GT B track frame.

How is it? I'm thinking of getting one. I want to know how good they are.

Rikardi151 02-11-07 09:51 PM

They SUCK and are prone to exploding during skids. Also, All threads are a proprietary GT standard, so GOOD LUCK finding parts! Luckily I just sold mine.

deathhare 02-11-07 09:54 PM

All i know is theyre ugly.

kyle! 02-11-07 09:56 PM

psssh haters, those frames are sick.

john_and_off 02-11-07 09:56 PM

i seem to remember sniks posting recently that he just couldn't fall in love with his and was planning on selling it

sniks 02-11-07 10:10 PM

I found the top tube a little long for my personal taste (it was like 54.5 with a 52 seat tube). liking my bridgestone tons more for the street.
I liked the frame. it feels like it just want to go fast and I just want to play.I have the GT Pulse which I guess is better quality tubing. and yes its for sale.

john_and_off 02-11-07 10:11 PM

right on cue!

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. The threads are proprietary to GT? Is he talking about something different than a GTB frame? Anywho, mine is in my sig and I like it but it is aluminium so it can be harsh on the streets.

There wasn't really a question in the OP other than if they are "good" or not so I will say yeah, they are good.

piratelove 02-11-07 11:23 PM

I want one bad, and I'll be really jealous if you get one.

Igneous Faction 02-11-07 11:29 PM

Guys, guys, guys...

On the internet, nothing is serious.

Briareos 02-12-07 12:06 AM

GT Pulse's make my loins quiver. I really wish they had used brazed steel though, much cleaner look. The welds definately have that "peanut butter" look to them.

jet sanchEz 02-12-07 12:42 AM

There were some Ti track frames made by GT and they were so sweet looking and yes, very clean looking; now and then one will pop up on eBay. I too would classify the welds as "peanut-butter" as well, at least on the GTB.

hah, yeah, I was joking... and I sold mine to someone on these boards and was hoping he would see my post. I loved the damn thing. It was too big for me, but I still rode the hell out of it for almost a year, and it went through several races and many miles with me including to the shore. I like the fact that the frame is Al with a steel fork.. kinda the best of both worlds. I know lots of people who love them and lots of people who want them. They ride and look great.

The Beard 02-12-07 01:52 AM

exploding tubes during skids?!!? i gotta get one now.
new claim to fame

FridgeRobot 02-12-07 05:26 AM

the question is... Is it worth what you're going to trade for it (Basso Trial)

euphoria 02-12-07 07:50 AM

I have a GTB as a daily thrasher and it certainly keeps you awake because you WILL feel everything in the road

I thought the only advantage alu had over steel was in weight savings, and it just isn't the case here (5 lbs. with fork for a 62, same or more as the IRO)

however it does get lots of compliments from the general unknowing public

thick-ass tubeset = hopeful sturdiness

but I guess that's for the next owner to find out, since mine will be up for grabs at a tradeshow on the 17th

for reasons three: 1)I'll most likely recoup and then some, 2) the top tube is wangnormous and my lower back's had enough, 3) **** aluminum

p.s. I think a lot of the comfort issues would be sorted out with a carbon fork, but good luck finding one that's 1" threaded.

Jserse 02-12-07 09:18 AM

haha, yea i saw your first post riki and was like.. huh? haha. still trying to et at someone to paint it, can't start adding parts until that's done, it's driving me nuts! good race on saturday. me and my friend from boston got lost on that memorial hall checkpoint, never been out that way before. but after standing looking at the map for 5 min and almost giving up, then hauling it the rest of the race after he got nailed 10 seconds into it coming out of love park, 4th and 5th isn't bad. missed third literally by locking my bike up and the other guy running inside.

FridgeRobot 02-12-07 11:24 AM

talk to Geraldinho.... i'd be getting that GT-B if I had the cash the guy wants, but he was also willing to trade for the op's basso... i mean in my opinion they are both sick machines

+1

I get a ton of questions/comments about mine anytime I take it out. I guess the triple triangle and the aggrestive look is unusual? It doesn't bug me that people talk to me about it but yeah, it stands out which isn't always a good thing.

BLACKMARKET 02-12-07 01:54 PM

yea. i like GTB'S. i always wanted one-

piratelove 02-12-07 02:01 PM

imo GT > Basso..

I'm so ****ing jealous.

o beleive me, i know about standing out. Old people gave me comments about my basso, so i was just waiting for that thing to be tampered with when i came outside from class or something. It really was unnerving being worried about it all the time. Hopefully this GT will stand out but in a good way. when im goin fast and turning left
