So let me get this straight, toe buttons are for what....?

i see them and searched but can't get a clear answer. logics says they aid in tightening but are they really needed for the streets and for that matter at all in general? aren't fingers sufficient enough?

They keep the strap from going through the buckle when you loosen them. They are also easier to grab when you're tightening your straps.

i talk about the button as being the lever part of the clasp. if the strap is fed once through the clasp and not turned down and fed back through the loop on the buckle, then all you have to do to tighten them is pull the strap, and all you have to do to loosen them is to push on the lever part of the clasp. just lean down when you're getting your riding start and you've got a vast improvement in connection to the pedal.
