yeah, I'll probably just get some true cycling shoes for long rides and stick with clips and straps for around town. After all, swapping out pedals takes about a full minute of my day.

or just wear real mtb shoes around town.

yeah, but with just platforms, you can't spin through the whole rotation

do a few 0 mph falls and learn.
shoot, son, every time you switch from clips to clipless or vice versa, you will pull at least one 0mph fall. |

spd-rs ****ing impossible to get out of Aliums not so hot newer atacs, spds, eggbeaters most current road pedals ... pretty damn easy It takes a bit of practice at first but if you choose your system wisely the learning curve is pretty steep. |
My MTB Sidis always get compliments from the ladies at school...
|
my atac aliums loosened up a little afte a hundred miles or so time says it is the normal break in they are much easier to get out of now

Looks cool but I bet it's floppy as hell. If you are going to go clipless you might as well embrace it, get something with three straps and a stiff sole. You'll look like a bike geek if you're going to the pub but it's such a small price to pay. |
These are great. Comfortable (I've taught in them all day) and not floppy at all. I did have to put a stiffer insole in them but that's all.

my question is
where are you people going that is fine to wear sneakers but not fine to wear mtb shoes? i could understand if you were looking for a cycling shoe that looks like a dress shoe why pretend you didnt ride a bike to get where ever you are if the atmosphere is casual give me stiff shoes and ill clomp around in my cleats anywhere or give me a bus ticket also i would rather carry two pairs of shoes than ride one that is made to walk in |
hate to say it but petrol comes from donosaurs vegan ha and actually the lorica that sidis are made of is more comfy and stronger than leather(scuffs)
|
yes
sidis are awesome and vegan if you have the money do not buy a lesser shoe i have a pair going on two and half years of regular riding best 250$ i ever spent |
are the sidi dominators soft on the bottom? from pics it looks like a hard plastic ridges which would click just as much as cleats.
plus, wouldn't you be ****ed as soon as they wore down? |
some sidis have replaceable soles do the dominators? research will tell
they are not soft on the bottom they are very hard i cant imagine wearing them down as they are used primarily for riding they dont click as much as clomp |

my sidi zetas (road) look like hell from walking around too much and on trails |
if that is a concern get the 6 instead of the 5
|
Mine have replaceable soles (they aren't dominators), but they haven't worn down enough to replace them and I wear them to class, the bar, the movies, etc. I did manage to pull out one of the sole pieces once while inebriated, but it screwed back in no problem. Plus they make you look like you're from the future. Best shoes ever.
|
AND they make you taller
(take note all you 51cm riders) |
that's good to hear
I bought mine a year ago thinking it'd be a one-time investment, now it seems like I'll get another 2 years out of them max but I'll be out of school by then and already making my millions |
I rode a pair of Adidas "casual" shoes for a while... they were walkable, but after a couple of months I wore through the sole and the brass cleat wore out prematurely. They only had laces and were not very tight. Now it's Sidi's all the way for me. The only annoying thing is when you walk, people can hear you coming and you might impale your girlfriends roomates foot and/or your friends toe at a venue....
