IRO components vs. slow accumulation
so, I'm planning to get the bikeforums IRO. i'm not sure if i should buy all the components together from them (which seems a little pricey for some stuff like cranks), or i can start buying stuff now, like bulletproof cranks &c. i'm thinking i'll get the stem, BB, and seatpost from iro, but the other stuff, would i be better off looking around?
is there any deal being cut for the group buy if we get components too? |
i went ahead and started to buy stuuf, i got a wheel set and another front wheel so i dont **** up my nice one with a break, the some pedals and i got antsy ad put em on my old schwinn, now i dont know why i got that iro j/k
i cant wait till my frame arives. i was gonna email tony about the deal for pars kits but then i went ahead and bought **** myself i think its a plus to look around cause sometimes you find deals, like i got a sweet set of deep vs laced to iro hubs for 240, black spokes and all plus with the bike not coming for 3 months you have time to save a little dough |
suposedly tony will offer the group a deal on his build kits, or some variant thereof.

Prediction: You will not save money buying components individually, unless you have iron unmanderlike discipline.

save your money buy the components you want all at the same time from the same shop they will be greatful and give you a discount usually but I am talking 8 9 a thousand dollars on parts for a build whenI buy just the frame

I've been accumulating parts for a fixie for 6 months now. I got them all at pretty good rates and just need a cog, rear hub (28h, does anyone know where those cheap Pauls are?), and a seatpost and saddle. It is going to be orange and blue.

yeah i decided I wanted a 100% brand new bike for the first time in my life(minus headset), so im just slowly buying parts, already got wheels headset and tires, im buying cranks bb and pretty much everything else with my tax return
|
I do both, but only cause of work. The IRO build kits are decent enough really, they get the job done. I tend to buy stuff in batches whether I may need some of the items at that time or not.
Whats tricky is dealing with the shipping price issue when buying from lots of places vs just one place or 2-3 places. Shipping will wipe out lots of savings on individual parts. |
