There are lots of ways of looking at this. My initial reaction is to shoot for the moon. There are three things in life that I buy the best I can afford: shoes, bikes and food. It all pays dividends in the end.

If you really want a concept (I know I do), buy it.

If it's not what you need, think otherwise.

Just don't put mag wheels on the f**ker.

You could just do a conversion.

I've had a rush hour for a year and a half now, and it's effing wonderful. the stock saddle gets uncomfortable after a while, but I didn't end up replacing it until I really started going on longer rides than my commute. The tektro brake hoods that come on it, at least the ones on the '06 model, were complete crap, the hex nut to adjust the tension on the clamps is inside the hoods behind the lever and underneath the cable. Oh, and it comes with 48/15 gearing.

Now that I've talked **** about my bike for a couple sentences, I really do actually love it, it handles nicely and has been very comfortable for 20 mile rides and a few alleycats.

Because most of what you say is uninformed and flat out wrong. The op is better served by having your ridiculous statements refuted then ignored. Also I highly suspect you are a fake account.

I am not taking sides but I am stating it is best to look stupid than open your mouth and prove it

it has started.

and i agree with what retem said.

op- i hope whatever decision you make makes you happy. not that it hasn't been said yet, but the rush hour would be better for longer rides and more comfortable for daily riding. have fun with it.

i agree as with what you say as well but im just sayin don't shoot someone down because they are not as experienced as you are. i been ridin 6 mths now but that doesn't mean i dont know anything. my small penny of advice is just as valuable as your 99 cents because they are both advice to consider that's all. you can scrutinize me all you want but i wont stop posting advice if i think i can help a little even just a little.

btw duret im not angry at what you say but dont be so forgetful that at one time you were just as much of a novice as i am.

A fake account would be an account made by an established poster to troll and misinform often by taking ridiculous board cliches to their extreme for humor value. You seem like one that got out of hand with the series of threads you have made over the last month and suddenly offering bad and nontopical advice in other threads. Further, your choice of usernames screams fake since half the fun of fake accounts is guessing who is behind them. If you are not a fake so be it but until people who know you IRL can vouch for you I will be suspicious.

well i know im not a fake but very well then. i really dont care what you think of me. just take my word for it. i post "useless" ?s cuz i dont know. thats what these forums are for. i search but dont get what i want so i ask, big deal. why would i want to misinform ppl. you look at any thread and most will say steel rides better and the more relaxed geometry of the rush hour is better for what the op wants cuz he's a commuter type. how is this misinforming? you just want to feel good about knowing more then me i think thats all but keep doing what you do. i dont mind. i only have one username btw. you dont know what your talking about as far as me taking boards for humor purpose. what humors me is how i am trying to find info and ppl treat me like crap for asking and then in comes you thinkin im a phony but as i said it really doesn't bother me. im not going to try to convince you i just hope one day you see i am here to learn and not troll. trolling is thread highjacking. i give info that pertains to the topic; whether its valuable to who i give it to is for them to decide but im just tryin to be useful

really great bike for a first

a double century on a pista concept would robably leave you rattlin for a week man that frame is for the less than 50 miles a week crowd

the kids I know that ride concepts ride them to the hip bar or art opening and not on a daily basis the guys witht he rush hours ride them for a living 9-6 5or 6 days a week

please read threads regarding the characteristics of different alloys more carefully. There are indeed usually a bunch of sloganeering jackasses going off about steel but everyone who has a clue what they're talking about is very clear whether the alloy contains Al, steel, ti, scandium, beryllium or whatever is not what is important in determining ride. Tube shape and choice is. There are Al noodles and ti bikes stiffer then you probably want to ride you just have to form the tubes into the appropriate shape. AL is a great choice for a commuter or a **** weather trainer. Thick unbutted tubing can be used and will lead to a bike that is much more crash and rain proof then a steel bike of similar weight. Any stiffness issues can be overcome with slightly larger tires that will compress in the direction you want them too and not in other directions like a pencil thin steel frame. If an AL frame with the appropriate features was available to me when I built my new commuter/cross/rain bike I would have chosen it hands down.

If you are in fact a real person it's cool that you want to learn stuff just don't repeat platitudes and meaningless drivel you pick up as advice. There are plenty of people willing to spout those absurdities already. More importantly take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt and don't go repeating it as fact until you are sure it it. That applies here as well as anywhere else.

yet again another good point I have a steel track bike with a 38mm rake fork on it it is a rather stiff and sometimes riveting ride to my hands
I have an aluminum track bike that is stiff as all get out but the fork is raked at 42mm making it nice to my hands -it has a steeper h/t angle to compensate for the raked fork -
