big heads + hats?
anyone know where i can get a pretty big cycling cap?
as a comparison my head is about an inch or two too large for a walz cap, i already tried them. |
My hat size is 7 5/8 and the pace caps work fine for me. I hope your head isn't too much bigger than that, because I feel like I have a melon.
|
I have a huge knot too.....
Bobble head style. I wish I could find something that doesnt look like a yamulka, too  |
pace caps are ok they require some stretching the elastic is really strong and gives me a head ache
the kucharik wool cap is the best fit I have found as well as their standard cotton cap kucharik.com is the site take care |
i wear a 7 3/4 fitted hat and the only cycling caps i've been able to wear without it looking like a swim cap were the rapha ones. for the price, the quality's there, so its worth it.

My only intact cycling cap is by Headsweats. All my others have the brim detaching at on one side.
Hat size is between 7 3/4 and 7 7/8 based off of trying on fitted Astro's hats. L/XL flexifit hats are snug. Do y'all think the pace hats go that large?

Damn! How big are your heads that you have to have a special order?
Those must be some big a$$ noggins! >>> http://www.whysheep.com/~dvb/Old/pig...big-noggin.gif |
Mine is about 8 1/8.
We're talking about "one-size" hats here, so they're going to fit almost noone correctly. Sure, you can make the circumference stretch, but for me, it's as much about the depth of the hat. Even if something fits around my head it's often just perched on top, looking like a beanie. I typically don't even pay attention to hats anymore since none of them fit. I have contacted both of the aforementioned people though just out of curiosity. Didn't get far enough along to enquire about pricing. |

hey guys....really appreciate this thread. have an oversized waltz with earflaps that's really tight but used it all winter anyway. had this link written on a paper with photos of a do it yourself hat...i think his name is james black and there's a template for making your own thought i'm not sure if the template is at this link: http://james.architectureburger.com/cycle/cap.html
will check out kucharik. thanks. |

AND... i contacted walz a few weeks ago, and they said they're stepping up the size of their hats to a larger size... but in the meantime if you want one larger just e-mail them the request, or put it on the order. they'll have to make it custom for you so it'll be a little longer than an off the peg cap, but it'll be worth it.

i'd also recommend a Walz. Or, you could go try some on before you buy them at your LBS. |

You know what they say about big heads...

how are their cotton caps for summer use? I'm looking for something to wear under my helmet, so I don't have to put on a hat to cover up the helmet-hair when I get to wherever I'm going.
