Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

urban legend?

cycling and e.d.?

i've heard people say yes, i've heard people say no. where's some real info?

([165], i expect lots of snarky, juvenile responses, but this is a real question, not trolling...i just thought i'd say, since i have an idea what may be coming)

Studies come out with different answers all the time, but I'm fairly sure that it's a myth.

I've got 200k+ and it works just fine, maybe if you have a bad fitting? I'd worry more over prostate troubles, check regularly at 30 years old & onward.

I was using a saddle for a while that I'm pretty convinced was causing me problems, because when I switched, they cleared up quickly. Other than that, I probably have ~ 20k lifetime miles and no other issues.

Saddle related numbness might well have some short term effect on functionality. I think though that a lot of the talk about long term effects is primarily a way to sell those really ****ed up hornless seats to ignorant but well meaning people.

I think the only dudes that should worry about ed are the gues riding crazy drop stem and bars and pursuit bikes on the street think about the saddle bars relationship and how it is hitting your taint

Sitting on your sit bones=good. Sitting on your taint=bad. Getting up off the saddle often=good.

30 miles home from a road ride with a broken saddle clamp which points the nose of the saddle up at 45 degree angle=bad. That's the only situation which has given me issues.

I assume, like with general saddle fit, that this is one of those individual-pelvis-anatomy things, which may be more of a problem with for some people than others.

Fun fact: Rodeo riders have the highest incidence of ED. All that testosterone and nowhere to go, apparently.

Forget erections, fear your prostate men. And, for that matter stay away from milk. It's the leading cause of prostate cancer.

I saw a thing from a urologist that said as long as you arent slamming down like a mtn bike hard landing etc the gentle massage effect on the prostate is likely beneficial rather than detrimental
as for ED no way

You are my new hero! I don't have e.d., quite the opposite (I'm only 20), but I may have to go to Denmark for some, ummmm, preventive bike rides.
