i have some of the campy laminated with the wider cut
near the buckle and they are definately more comfortable
than the standard narrow strap. the only problem is the
wider portion sometimes catch on my shoe when i step into
the pedal, causing the strap to twist …this doesn't happen
with double straps as easily.

i like my binda laminated straps. they don't tighten as easily while you're riding as the binda non laminated straps but it's not that big of a deal

i had silvas. i got them for free from a pretty awesome forum member, and was super excited when i put them on my bike (after a generous amount of tugging and cursing) and went for rides. when i pulled them tight, they were so ****ing snug and comfortable!
but they delaminated in a hot minute. don't buy them. they split so fast. i krazy glued them back together a bunch of times but after five months or a little bit more there was no more i could do to resuscitate them. they were ****in' toast.

yes, trons, they still work, but like queerpunk's experience with the silvas, they delaminated unbelievably quickly, and for someone whose clips and straps are also his braking system, i simply didn't trust them. also, the rivets were terrible.

i have the cinellis and mine also delaminated kind of quickly (mine held out for closer to 6 months vs. the 2), but i've still got them on there and they're doing fine, the leather itself is still in fine shape.

The Ale's are really tough and they have that sweet pad on the side. Riv used to sell them for like 12 bux too.

Have the ALE's from Rivendell because they come with that leather pad. Really difficult to thread through the MKS Sylvans but they stay put once you get them in. Velo-Orange has them too but without the pad.

i figure the fact that theres multiple layers of leather in there is enough to make them dependable rather than if they're stuck together or not. maybe i'm wrong.
