Deep V wheel building.

So im building a phil wood high flang track hub to a velocity deep V. Does anyone have the spoke length i'll need for a regular three cross for 32 holes. Or the effective diameter of the deep V. this is my first wheel build, so any tips would be helpful too.

I just built a set of Deep Vs to Miche HF hubs. They're not eyeletted, so here's the easiest way I found to actually get the nipples through the spoke hole without dropping it into the rim/swearing/hitting things:

Thread the nipple backwards onto a spoke, just a couple threads should do it. Insert it from the outside of the rim through the spoke hole, grab the nipple between two fingers *insert innuendo here* and unthread it from the spoke. Run that spoke through the hub flange, and thread it on the right way.

I just saved you some swearing, so your mom should thank me. *insert additional innuendo*

Yeah, my Miche HF to Deep V wheelset needed 282 for 3x. If the flange diameter of Phils is the same as the Miches, it will be 282 up front, 282 non-drive side rear, 283 drive side rear (so just use 282).

My Miches are 36h and the shop carries only even length spokes. 276 for the drive side and 278 for the non-drive side and for the front. This is 3x, double laced (over, under, over). I should have them tensioned, trued, and on my bike later today.

I strongly recommend getting the advice of your local wheelbuilding guru on spoke length. The advice alone is worth the piddly amount you'll save buying spokes on the innernet.

I just built my first wheel, a Surly NEW track hub to a Velocity Deep-V. I'm really glad a friend was overseeing my work, I needed the extra set of hands when it got down to lacing the last two sets and getting those nipples on. I blew it as far as evening the tension before I got down to truing, and my rushing to get done only made it take that much longer in the end. Definitely take your time, and take it easy on the caffine.

Velocity's website has all the colours listed and on a colour chart:
https://www.velocityusa.com/default.asp?contentID=550

However, this works much better, actual pictures of the rims:

I've been sitting on a pair of Deep V's and some Miche HF 36h hubs for almost a week. I just put the info into the spoke calc, and it says 279.8 R, 277.8 L. Should I order 36 of each? Maybe 40 in case I break a few down the road. Or will going 280 for all of them be fine?

You deep-v people have it all wrong. They're rediculously strong radially but not that much stronger laterally.

It's all about the velocity dyad, extra wide touring/tandem rims ftw.
