1978 schwinn world tour fixie converted fixed gear - $900
I suddenly don't feel so bad about going over budget on my 1982 Schwinn Traveler Fixie.

Bike is nice, saddle position jackass. Reminds me of the motorcycles of the 20's, 30's.

The bamboo bike is another Calfee. He's probably playing around with using smaller bamboo than his earlier bikes. This one is probably stiffer, too. And ridiculous looking. But some kid in Africa can maybe build one of these using some twine and a machete and a build kit from BD for $20.

I would sell someone's kidneys to get one of those, they are freakishly cool, IMO.

Instead it's just another god damn fixed gear. Useless.

I like the idea of 36ers. Check the hub-to-bb drop on that.

The moultonesque minivelo above has a reasonable riding position, once you realize that it only looks funny because the wheel stand is holding the rear end 10" into the air.

i think it's a speed modulator, not a brake lever.

it's like a gripshifter, but with a brake cable. designed to scrub speed in tiny increments for TTs. as in, enough to eventually stop you at the end of a race or going around a turn.
it's supposed to go on aerobars.
