Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Just because you're a sad little putz who cannot for the life of themselves read for context, doesn't mean I'm not taking anybody's advice. Instead of your incredibly lame attempt at trash talking, please take some courses at Sylvan to increase your reading comprehension. How do you know what my gear ratio is? You can't see the cog. For that matter, how do you even know I run a fixed gear? I never stated that I do. For all you know it could be a SS, which would explain my brakes. It's not, but I have once again shown that you should be deemed unfit to participate in any discussion whatsoever. You're in way over your head here. I wish I had a picture of you, because you belong in this thread.
well first off, that's what a 39t ring? With your cog, not even your chain going above your high flange hubs you're only running 16 or 17 tooth but given the spacing probably not less. So you're running mid 60's inches which is **** for road riding especially with brakes.

your bars cost more than your drive train
you have a kickstand on that
your brake levers are at the stem which isnt where your hands will be when you'll actually need brakes
you wouldnt need to chain your saddle down if you didnt have that quick release for your post

and finally your picture doesnt even show fit! You have yourself and specifically your legs at a position that gives a very poor idea of how the bike fits. If you supposedly know so much about bikes you should know how to fit one. Dont ask for advice and then get pissy when people tell you what you dont want to hear.

Keep in mind you're asking for advice, then saying you can prove you know exactly what your asking about.

Also, keep in mind that SSFG will give you advice in any way, shape or form. Expect both excellent, helpful, sheldon brown-esque suggestions and downright hatred and discouragement, so don't get your panties in a twist whenever someone hates and/or regulates. Straws's response is aa prime example

Past that, it's a pretty nice bike (aside from the goofy taint destroying saddle).

Maybe they just were the only brakes he could get his hand on? (pun intended)

& yes I know it's not very tarck and the kid's only 14, but someone please tell him to fix that seat (and other assorted wtfs) before he stunts his growth or damages himself so much that he can't spread his Van's Checkered DNA to the next generation...

Clearly, the kid is not riding a bike. This is actually Michael Jackson disguised as a bike. The erect saddle gives him away.
