Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? In some states a bike has to be equipped with a brake or you get a ticket. These setups are usually workarounds for legal compliance by people too immature to realize that if you HAVE to mount a brake it might as well be a functional one.

Maybe they're worried about losing street cred by riding a brake you can actually use, dunno

Looks like a good way to lose some fingers when your hand's down there while smashing into a car.

Should have made and extension for the shift lever so this could be a dedicated "endo" bike.

The only thing I can really think of why this is real is maybe he's trying to avoid local laws regarding brakes and want to ride brakeless? Still pretty pointless.
