I'm actually with you on this. Not because I'd ever do that to a bike that I'd ride sensibly - especially not a nice, higher-end Trek like that one. But because if I ever have access to tons of bike frames and abandoned and recovered junkers, I would definitely build as much weird stuff as possible. Probably a bunch of stuff that's just plain old hard to ride. Including dt-shifter-actualized brakes. Why? Cause it's stupid and there's something, yes, something audacious about it. Kind of like how retrodirect drivetrains are so dumb and ridiculous and awesome.

It's okay to do, you just cannot - CANNOT - take it or yourself seriously.

For real.

unique

I agree, I like to make my bikes as unique as possible. For me that means ridding with Scott Drop ins, and command shifters (It's awesome, I can shift from positions you can't even imagine on your drops). If I had a fixed gear like that, I might as well.

Actually, I'd hook my brake up to an indexed thumb shifter, because indexed braking seems like a kinda cool idea.

yah but this guy is SELLING these bikes. Not only that, he's offering to install shifter-brakes on people's existing bikes for a price. He's selling people a chance to kill themselves. Plus the guy is just sort of a dork, he posts on Denver craigslist asking for advice and selling "polished turds"
