It could be. Depends upon how spectacularly the fork fails. When one is really depending upon that disc brake to work is when that fork will fold right up.

right but given that brakeless bikes are non jackass, we can assume that front brakes are not necessary and one could ride without ever being in the situation you describe of needing the front brake.

And the one time you do need it, it's a panic situation which makes the fork fold up like a wet noodle.

By the way, who ever said brakeless was non-jackass?

this should go in the how to not get your bike stolen thread.
Or in the "I really should get a cable lock for that expensive rear wheel" thread.

folding up like a wet noodle is one more option than the brakeless folks have.

By the way, who ever said brakeless was non-jackass?
not me.

not me.
I think I'd actually rather smash into the side of a car than have my fork explode. But I'd circumvent the situation entirely and use a caliper brake.

i dont think having the option of an exploding fork is so bad. you can still smash the car if you like. you could even find a midpoint between the choices, and use the brake a little, so that it dosent break the fork, and then you smash the car with slightly less velocity. the options are endless!

And if the ride chills the bev. all the better. i mean sure flask cages are cool but this in the apparent snow would make a nice cool drink.

And WTF?

this is what happens when you first learn to weld. You go around making stupid **** and ****ing things up

i started out making what we stonededly called zombie slayers, welding whatever metal was laying around (screws mostly) to crow bars

im glad I didnt have any thin 3/4" tubing and made my own handlebars

Agreed, pure awesomeness. Excepting, of course, if it was never full to begin with...

It was actually half full, but it rides in my pocket where I know it won't fall out.
