i'd like to point out that if Obree's bike was posted here before he raced it, jackass thread group consensus would have told him to throw it away, that he's an idiot for trying to fit washing machine bearings on a bike.

Look like they might be an approximation of the forearm pads on aerobars (perhaps he has pads he slips over that?) or perhaps it's just another set of handles for riding upright (and with very finicky handling )

It's for taking down the people next to you. In the past you'd have to get all un-aero and stick your elbows out.

cry me a river.

move the grip tape/grips and it's one of the nicest vintage restorations you'll find around.

Maybe I don't understand the process of jb welding the cassette, but if it failed wouldn't it just be a single speed again?

the failing part is not the problem, the problem would be no foot retention which could be trouble.

I've seen one that looks much worse on my campus, and WITHOUT brakes. I can't tell if it's actually garbage, or if the owner thinks it's rideable.

This isn't a restoration, not even close.

Restore = bring back to as near original condition as possible. Read the description, it started of as a New Old Stock (NOS) bike in red, it was then stripped and powdercoated green with flake, then built up using a bunch of random gold parts.

I hate to argue semantics, but pimping out an old bike like this is not a "restoration". The frame was probably worth more in its original state.

yeah that green and blue bike looks really funny. I guess wheel base is something that is determined by the frame you use. Is there anything that controls the wheel base? it looks like his fork curves an awfully lot towards the front, so I guess that is his main problem. The rear wheel is also pretty far back. Hopefully my bike won't look like that when it is built up, but it's a pretty standard old Bianchi frame so I think it'll be alright.

It's called geometry, and fork rake.
