leave the chain home?
hey all,
i've got a kryptonite NY fahggedaboudit (sp??) chain and lock that i got last summer and the thing is so cumbersome that im considering just going out with the lock. does anyone else do this? i wonder if it'll fit around a parking meter or a signpost. if anyone in NYC would like to trade locks PM me |
If you have wheels that you don't care about, sure.
|
why not get a nice cable instead? obviously not quite as theft-proof but at least you'll have something holding the rear wheel.
|
I used the chain for a year, then switched to a mini with an accessory cable. No problems. Not as secure, but it's worth the convenience to me.
|
i care about my wheels, they are bolt on and 90% of my lock ups are to stop at a shop/store for less than 5 mins. i say **** the chain, im gonna trade it for a U lock and until then im gonna just use the lock. if i can. any word on that?

quick release front wheel means you can lock both your wheels, every time.

I have a *****in' big chain on mine, accompanied by an equally ridiculous lock. Weighs so much that I just leave it at the lock location locked up, and ride to it everyday. It works well if you lock up the same place everyday, or else if you atleast ride past it, it can shorten the amount of time you are carrying a 25lb chain and lock.

fork-insert things that ship with new frames. Put that into the dropouts on the fork after you release the front wheel and you won't scuff up your fork. |
