Retem 03-14-07 11:35 PM

and where they sper engrish well and the bikes fit your proper right?

kludge 03-14-07 11:35 PM

currently at 49x19 its almost perfect. before that it was 49x15 which was fun but kind of stupid. before that it was 44x16 which is MORE ********. you spin out on the damned flats. but then again, i know some cats who run something close to that and never seems to spin out. i would go with the gear that fits the hill your house is on.

deathhare 03-14-07 11:43 PM

They speak english there now? Moving on up, it seems
Thanks for the comments. I want to get my stuff here before i move cause i know ill get ***** on all the good stuff back in the land of the free.

Retem 03-14-07 11:56 PM

Whaa!? Top speed 14mph?

doofo 03-15-07 12:03 AM

retem gets paid by the minute

Judah 03-15-07 12:16 AM

46x17 on the kiyo
45x16 on the new bike
spin spin spin.

Hills here are not hard once you get used to them. Neither of my daily-rides has a handbrake and I ride up Mt. Davidson at least three times a week. I say F the bikecoalition map and just learn a few of the more standard routes from locals and then explore for yourself. Muni-map is nice, very detailed, and without the mental-blocking powers of the grade-shadings. If you depend on a map to tell you where you can and can't go what will happen when you are without the map? Get on the sf forum when you get here and you won't have to deal with the scrum of nonsense bikeforums seems to have become. There are tons of us on there and we do a lot of hanging out...

Retem 03-15-07 12:23 AM

nah thats my winter bike actually I top out around 20 I am pushing it more and more
my other bikes have higher gears when the weather is clear for mor ethan a week or two I wil probably get a 15 or a 14 for the rear or throw my 52 on the front who knows

dookski 03-15-07 12:24 AM

48-17 on the old bike
43-20 on the new post ACL tear bike (freewheel)

deathhare 03-15-07 12:57 AM

Thanks for all the info. I think ill buy a few cogs and couple other gears before i leave. Give myself a few choices and can mess around some.

jonb 03-15-07 09:08 AM

stripes 03-15-07 10:12 AM

Hills...no one in SF rides hills. It is called the wiggle. More kids goin to SF...watch out the scene kind of divided at the moment. It is a dog-eat dog world.
