Generic Online Vs. Namebrand

I've got a fuse IV, a s-works tarmac pro (dura ace), a stumpjumper carbon marathon, a Patterson long A from 82' (direct from the original company, Red-Line flight, bought in 81'), a fatboy hemi, Surly cross check (Sugino, Phil, Mavic, Campy), and a raliegh 531, nexus lugged,(sugino, phil & suzue, campy, fixed) for my name brands and I've got a few generics. I hate to ride my weekend rollers on everyday commutes and plus they are locked in storage, so I bought some generics, an IBEX 5600 Classic and a Motobecane Messenger, for everyday commuting which stay in my garage. I'll tell you, for everyday travel and shopping these bikes cannot be beat. I see alot of threads putting down such bikes but I've relied on them without a problem. I live in San Francisco where the riding is tough and these bikes stand up! The Moto's wheels' which get alot of flack aren't half bad, with over 1000 miles on them they are true and smooth. I know a great bike set up and these wheels and hubs aren't that but they are reliable and very decent. I'm still riding all the original parts on both bikes. Every bike I've ever owned needs a tune up in the first 500 miles due to cable stretch, crank bearings and shifting, both BD and Ibex reimbursted me for my first tune up, only 25 bucks (deraillures and brakes) but that is that last tune up I've had on either bike!

^^^ Yep.

True, you'd think they'd just hire someone with a brain. How hard could it be to create a persona & make it believable. Then again, maybe he isn't...in that case I'd have to ask him, how hard is it to be a person without looking like a doorknobslobber for a cheap bike assembler?

terrible persona if it is, who wants to emulate a 100lb homophobe that can't spell.

I think after a certain point all you're getting is improved performance, and name brands don't mean shiz. A lot of times they come from the same factory.

The lowest end of real bikes are always going to be way better than the highest end of walmart bikes.

Sure is a shame to have that many bikes and be scared to ride them during the week.

Hope you pay your maid well to keep them dusted for you.

Brakes are the Devil ;)

killsurfcity 03-16-07 09:01 PM

but seriously though, the real question is, do your bikes have track drops or rizerz?

Am I supposed to ride vert and dirt jumps on my Tarmac? Am I supposed to take my fuse 4 on a 100 mile trip, or take either one of those on a boggy firetrail, c'mon all types of riding need the right bike.-Steve.
