are clipless best for wide feet?
 

I've been using eggbeaters for a bit, but wanna switch back to clips/straps or powergrips. I pulled out my old mks touring pedals and put them up against my new balance 12.5EE and realized that even the wide touring pedals dont nearly cover my whole foot.

i know sidi makes wide sizes, am i stuck with clipless if i want to actually get my whole foot on there, or are there pedal clips setups that are super wide?

eggbeaters mallets or similar? but why not just get a stiffer shoe if you feel lke you need more platform? or adjust the cleat position.

It really depends on how much pedal strike is an issue for you and if you get hot spots with clipless.

Dude, I don't think that an umbrella would cover your whole foot. If you like the way your clipless shoes feel, I'd say go for that full-time.

dude, i have pretty massive feet (13us and wide as schit) and i use clips and straps just fine.

then there's no retention at all. i wear 15 gunboats and normally use clips and straps, because of hotspots with clipless and riding many bikes, but have several platform pedals including one on a fixed commuter......fun and no problems with street shoes.

with the right shoe and pedal clipless is great you just have to find whats comfy for you

and I would steer clear of eggbeaters they loose their grip pretty easy (and it isn't the bloody cleat wearing out)

I would check with the clyde forum alot of those guys have wide feet and know what works

hotspots are more a shoe issue then anything else.

I have size 16 shoes, and campy SL Track pedals (MKS sylvans are imitations of these pedals), MKS LL clips work fine, the only problem is they are track pedals, so eventualy the sole of my shoe starts to wear down along the edge of the pedal, but it takes a while.

yeah don't buy cheap shoes you will pay for it in the end

also some sort of insole may be necessary be it a $10 gel pad or one of those expensive custom molded things.
