Just use the method above. A tensioner is not needed.

I ride 40x16 single speed and I find that the advantage/effort going up hills far outweighs the frustration I have spinning on the downhills.

Well, I already have the tensioner (it came with the kit of cogs and spacers) I was just wondering if it would be effective with the biopace as opposed to having a chain that's sometimes loose, sometimes tight.

If Revolution Smmr intends to combine the biopace rings with a single speed, a tensioner will make it easy and elegant.

i'm looking to go down from 48/18 to either 46/18 or 44/18... for bumming around town, chores, and also to get up hills easier. i know you guys can't tell me which one i'd like better, but how much of a difference does two teeth make, really? will i notice a big difference going down to 46?
