I am 6'6" and ride 63cm+ frames generally. I have a 63cm Schwinn conversion, 01' Fuji track in 64cm, and two vintage track bikes that are both 62-63cm.

I thought I was tall, now I'm not so sure.

I can go 3cm either way from 60cm - my sweet spot at just a hair under 6'3"

i'm 6'2" with a 35.75 inseam, shorter torso. currently riding a vintage Lygie with a 61cm seat tube and a 57 cm top tube. good fit. vintage rides may be the way to go - i see quite a few 62s, 63s, 64s on craigslist in LA, all with shorter top tubes.

gonna sell my Lygie frame in may when the 62 IRO arrives, as the downside with the vintage conversions is the slack geometry.

I am 6' 2" and ride a 56mm steamroller. I have it set up super dooper comfortable, I could seriously ride it all day. I had a larger 60ish schwinn and it felt like poo, it was soo long I always felt way too stretched out.

Man. I have a 60cm Kenevans conversion and am 6 '2". It feels great to ride as I have monkey arms and long legs but use a short 90mm stem. This also means it is really tough unweighting the rear.

nothing to do with bikes, but that is so mean! i'm 4' 11'' and anyone can clearly see over me. i hate going to shows and having a tall dude not be at all sympathetic. just sayin'

this is actually very helpful, as i was just about to ask about the IRO mark v.

i'm 6'5" and right now i'm riding a 64cm raleigh grand prix converted to fixed. but i think i want to get a mark v soon. i've heard nothing but positive things.

6'3" on a 62cm iro. its the best. my conversion is a 58-59ish and it feels wierd, im stretched out on the top tube and it feels too short. wierd right? i was told the best bike to look for if you are tall and have a shorter torso is the schwinn paramount. they dont build around the square from what i hear.

I'm like 6'5" and agree with the "nothing under 60" thing. Which sucks for finding any cool track frames on ebay, but hey. At least I'm not 4'11".

the only cool thing about being tall and riding bikes is that there is LESS guess work when it comes to getting a frame. im running on the logic of "give me the biggest size you got!" and it works, only a handfull of companies go beyond 60cm, even fewer go beyong 62cm. im still trying to figure out the ******** logic that ive seen on this board where its ok for a person over six feet to ride something in the 52-56cm range.

I am 6'4" with a 36" inseam.

I have a 65cm (c-t) Bob Jackson with a 59cm TT that is great for longer rides cos I have about an inch of saddle to bar drop with a riser stem. I also have a 62cm Eddy Merckx track bike which I ride around the city with risers and about 4" of saddle-bar drop. I got that badboy on ebay with full a full Record Pista group for £120 (about $240).

I am 6'3" and ride a folding bike fixed that says it is equvalent to a 56 frame. I max out the seatpin and have a 120 stem with bullhorns though. I am starting to ride on the track with it and for that I am changing to drops, - a think that i might need a 130 stem with them though, but i will see how it goes.

And what really gets to me about being tall is that it's fine to make fun of me because I am tall, but it isn't acceptable to make fun of short people. It ain't so fun being tall; I can't play basketball, I don't fit into public transport and always hitting my head on low ceilings etc. etc. Lets make fun of short people once in a while, after all they can sleep on airplanes, so what do they have to complain about?

I'm 6'7" and mainly ride a 62. I also have an old 68cm Fuji that I'm saving up to repaint, but the 62 hasn't given me any problems.

I'm only 6' and found riding a 61 to be comfortable...my inbred legs are toothpicks. prior to that I was on a 54 and now a 57 and 56 as well. I still haven't found the right bike. I love bikes that show a lot of post, but not a lot of stem. I can't stand how huge head tubes look either, but man this 61 feels nice...too bad it's a rusty/****ty Puch.

it sounds like the IRO gets very good reviews from taller gentlemen. this is very good to know, also schwinns & fuji.

hahaha 5'8" female = kinda tall around all the 5'5" babes
got it... my wife is 5'9", when she has her heels on, can push 6'0". tall girls = sexy.

back to bikes. can someone further expound upon what "slack geometry" means. Is that on the track-road spectrum, with slack being more toward a road bike's geometry? Or am I way off here. Thanks.

You are correct about geometry (read a wiki about it or something), and long headtubes are a sign of manliness

If you continue to buy based on looks rather than what actually fits you you never will.

I am 6' 5" with a 36" inseem. I have noticed that as I get older my bikes get bigger. I used to race on a 59cm Cinelli. My first and only fixed before this year is a 60cm Bianchi.

I now have a 62cm Rossin. Now, the seat tube length looks normal. I have a 95cm stem instead of a 140cm. It feels foreign and new to me but hopefully I will get used to it.

I still have the Bianchi in case I need to fall back on it. I rode it fixed six or more years so the change is kind of weird. I figured I should try something new.

Yeah, I am one of those Italian steel conversion people....
