Felt hub, unknown rim
The guy down at the bike store wants to sell me a 700c front wheel with a Felt hub for $60 to match my ****ty Alex AT450 rear. He's also asking $60 for the rear wheel. The hub is Felt and the rim is black and has a "semi-deep" profile, probably an a-frame cross section. I'm just curious if you guys and girls think this thing is worth $60 to a broke ass college student. Word.

Well, a matching front wheel is not terribly important...for function. But $60 isn't too bad.

Guess I ought to clarify. So you're going to have to hear me talk about myself. I'm one of those people who needs like five pairs of wheels, five decent side pull brakes, five decent saddles, five frames, and five pairs of tires. This is so that I can build a bike for getting groceries, a bike for countryside rides, a bike for biking to school when its nice, a bike for biking to school when its ****ty, and a bike just so that I can have a project bike to be tinkering with. Basically, I want this wheel. But I also want every other 700c wheel.
I'm like a 700c ****, just looking for excuses to spend my food money on a new toy. |
Then buy it.

I had the same wheel on my road bike (felt f90), which is pretty low end. I don't know if they put nicer wheels on the higher end stuff, but i'd suspect it. it's an alex rim, i think da22. i sold mine for 70 bucks, so 60 seems pretty fair. i never had any problems with the hub, but i personally HATE hate hate alex rims.

if you care about having it match, then buy it. but you can for sure get a better wheel for the money, if you look hard enough.
also, if you like your shop, buy it and support them instead of performance. |
