SIDI Dominator vs ???

I need some new shoes, and was thinking of some Dominators, but I've read some people say on here for the price you can get much better shoes.

So if you were looking for a shoe of like quality, what would you get?

max-a-mill 03-30-07 04:54 PM

sidi's are handsdown the most comfortable i ever tried!

but there are more durable shoes out there. if you don't mind spending; the high end shimano mountain spd's are always pretty nice.

carnac??? northwave??? try a bunch on!

bring your girlfirend, tell her your going shoe shopping; she'll be thilled.

who said this and where do they live

piratelove 03-30-07 05:02 PM

I read that in a few shoe discussions here.. I always thought SIDIs were basically the best.

I tried some on today.. they felt nice! My old shoes are clunky.

euphoria 03-30-07 05:07 PM

even their lesser models are wondrous

I use the zeta's offroad too, look like ****, and still wouldn't trade for them for a handjob machine

Retem 03-30-07 06:22 PM

sidis are the best man simply put anyone that says different probably bought the wrong size

piratelove 03-30-07 06:27 PM

Ok.. it's time. I need them. now.

If I needed them, another pair of Diadora Scorpione Carbons.
These are MTB versions - but the Roadie ones are pretty much exactly the same without the 'teeth' around the outside.

vs nothing

get happy feet

Surferbruce 03-30-07 06:47 PM

i'd have to vote the dominators best all around do anything shoe ever made. i use some genius's for my strictly road rides, but dominators anytime i'm gonna be off the bike, commuting, etc... great great shoes.

freebird 03-30-07 06:50 PM

There are no better shoes than Sidi's.
I like gold.

Woah, what are those? I never seen them before. How do they tighten/latch?

godless scum 03-30-07 07:27 PM

sidi genius (mega in my case). nothing comes close.

They're old-ass orange-sole (though not as old as the really old yellow sole's to the left) that I got NOS from a cat in the UK. They have a ratcheting twisty bit on top which tightens up a looped piece of monofilament on the instep.
Probably needlessly complicated (and thus discontinued) but dope nonetheless. Oh, and they're gold and you just cant argue with that.

I currently ride NoSweat hi-tops :)

Seriously though, Sidis are not that durable. Lots of buckle and sole problems. Diadoras are a) smallish sized and b) Narrow.

Clips and straps, people. Clips and straps. And Adidas Superstars.

Ditto. I will own no other shoe now. They are like slippers.

.

you're joking obviously. sidis will last years of abuse, long after those converse rip offs are buried in a landfill somewhere.

jimmy_jazz 03-31-07 09:35 AM

Definitely try them on first.

The intense curve at the front was way too much for my foot, and just put really uncomfortable pressure on my big toe.

All good. And like any high quality bit of kit, replacemant parts are readily available should they ever be needed.

Retem 03-31-07 10:16 AM

one of my best friends has a set of old bullets that he bought three years ago and are still in decent shape he wears em all the time on and off the bike and the guy drags his heels too and they really aren't that bad looking at all the heel is worn ofcourse but they still work great

new spider strap and buckle for around 30bucks new cleat plate 20bucks and if you get the dom 6 which is kinda pointless you get srs replacable soles for around 80bucks but I figure by the time I wear the sole out on these bad boys I will want a new shoe because they wil either smell or have holes in em

Ok, the pair I had was probably defective, but Iīv heard stories of Sidis falling apart in three to six months. Still, nowdays I ride with sneakers, not cycling shoes. And I do consider Sidis to be too expensive.

And yeah, I donīt expect my hi-tops to last forever, either
