nitto stem, compatible with my bike?

Hello,

well I have bought a new bike for cheap on ebay, but there are several components that I'd like to change because they look ugly. The stem is one of them. I'd like to get one of these nice nitto stems but I wonder if they are compatible with my bike. How can I be sure?

thank you.

You need to provide more information. Does the bike you bought have a threaded or threadless fork? I am assuming you are referring to Nitto quill stems (for threaded forks/headsets).

Hello,

well I have no idea unfortunately.. and the bike is not here already.

here is a picture of the fork, maybe it is possible to see if the fork is threaded or not.

thank you

Its a 1" threaded so a 1" threaded nitto stem will work.

The fork clearance on that bike is HUGE. Is there a brake caliper in existence that would have a long enough reach?

It's a disc brake. Look at the cable running down the fork

Right. My mistake. That seems like an odd combination of components.

yes, disc brakes, and 26" wheels. This is probably why the fork clearance is so huge.

I bought this bike in part because the wheels had 36 "rayons" that would be perfect to install a nexus hub I have. Instead of this it has a strange orange color

I will keep the front disc and remove the second one.

Those chainrings look moments from bending even in the picture. I would keep an eye on them. Good luck with your project.

Those dropout look awfully vertical-- if so you're going to have to rely on either luck of the draw (a good magic ratio) or an expensive hub.

My guess: Taiwan.

It just screams "X-Mart" to me.

i was thinking the same thing. i don't work in a bike shop or anything but i've seen my fair share of bikes and it's definitely quite odd.

Weird, I have never seen a post-mtb-boom xmart road bike before. It's kind of unique and funky in an ugly ass way. That's a strange build too, with the super long shift cables. with risers it looks like roadie barspins could be possible.

It's about time someone made a bike where you can do roadie barspins. ...until you taco the fork...

I agree it's a weird bike. And probably build in china because I had it for a very few bucks on ebay.

These dropouts look awfully vertical to me too, but I count on a halflink to slightly elevate my magic ratio ...

I don't want to hate on anyone's rig, but that bike is seriously
just some off-the-rack from Wal-Mart ****. A Nitto stem would
cost more than that whole bike cost to make. Reinvest in an
old steel frame and you'll be much, much happier.
