thats intentional, its common use in bike polo frames. So i made mi custom frame line that, i like the looks and it does protect the vbrakes.

I spent yesterday rigging up a quick release for this wine crate (and waxing the crate).
The center divider can be removed and/or used as a lid.
I'll be looking good at the Farmer's Market this spring.
Don't know I can change out the handlebars or not.

Different wheels/tires go on it Friday.
Casually looking at fenders....

I finished this a couple weeks ago, but today was the first time the sun popped out, so I snapped a few quick pics.

Lookin good, Mr. Squid. How do you like those fatboy tires? I know someone that's been usin them for a while on his comuter and just about every week has got multiple flats and just oodles of shrapnel dug in. In any case they're lookin good on yer piece. Really diggin' the bars/tape and saddle

That thing looks great man. Love that seat.

That's how I think I'm going to attach my bell to the stem on the Basso. i don't have enough fork threads/no spacers to attach it the way the Retrogression Crane bells are.

Thanks. I like the bell angled forward like that because I can comfortably smack it with my thumb when I'm "in the drops".

Thanks. I don't know how the tires will perform yet because it's been too cold and snow covered here for weeks. When I rolled the bike out for pics, the road was absolutely covered with all sorts of nasty debris and thorns. Took a quick spin to the end of the cul-de-sac, but that's it. I won't really know until spring. They won't see any brutal urban abuse, mostly cruising by the lake on designated bike paths. But still, fingers crossed that I have better luck than your friend. They are really thin, especially the side walls.

I have a soft spot for twin top tubes like that. When I win the Lottery I want to have a custom twin tube frame made. Fillet brazed, quill stem, sloping crown forks. I got it all pictured in my head, now I just gotta win the Lottery.

Yeh I'm sure that is the thing about it is he's just going a ways on most likely considerably rough streets. Not any sidewall problems just things he'll pick up. Must ride by an exploded staple factory or something. Here's hoping the weather cleans up soon for ya. I'd like to cruise lake paths on that thing for sure.

Enjoy!

Ha ha. I call them "Faux Filets". It's funny that Schwinn went through all that effort for the head tube cluster, but the rear brake bridge looks like it came off a bike that wasn't even good enough to be sold at Wally World.

Ha, thanks! The bike is pretty recognizable I guess. It's my beater, but also the one that gets the most comments.

What are those bars? I'm building up my beater currently. I've been thinking I'd use some Velo Orange Portuer bars but I like the slight drop you've got going on.

They are Velo Orange Tourist bars flipped upside down. Any similar North Road-style bar will give you the same look.

I've got some VO tourist bars arriving today for use on my Salsa Casseroll, but will be using them in the normal upright position. I've already got them on my Windsor Clockwork, and like them a lot. Will post pics shortly.
