Resin. Interesting. I'd be really interested in a report if you get one.

Thanks for bringing the saddle issue up again. I was getting used to the white one to the point of ignoring it. Now that you stirred up the waters, I have to buy the darn Gyes :)

Are you avoiding leather because of rain?

No, I stopped buying leather things some years ago (I've been a vegetarian for 8 years). I say this not intending to start a debate. And yet another reason to look for a non-leather vintage saddle, I think I like the challenge of finding something that suits well other than a Brooks. For example, I found that for steel road bikes a Fabric saddle looks (to me) as good as a Turbo (even though the Turbo comes in a synthetic version also).

My Murphy Marty townie, with the rear rack saddle bag combo and without. I've gotten so it takes me less than ten minutes to put the rack on or take it off.

I got some new parts, so I get to show it again, right? ;)

I got back my nice bar from my son (Origin8 Citi Classic), and found this ancient comfy leather touring saddle at St. Vinny's.

Also, I straightened out the fork this winter, so now I can ride it no-hands. Total weight as shown is 22 pounds.

Here's the last pics I'll post of my now dead and gone townie, a final send off for a noble steed. *Taps plays*

The panniers say townie but the unwrapped drop bars totally do not. I guess sometimes you have to run your errands quickly. great looking bike either way!

Track in the front, townie in the back. It's the SSFG mullet!

Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's a nice bike. And I'm glad this thread's back on the first page.

Yeah everyone points out the unwrapped handle bars. I wear gloves when its cold and when its hot I feel like I never have any trouble with gripping or road noise so its not a problem. Definitely an aesthetic choice to leave them off though.

She's my only bike and I ride her almost everyday. Classy towny is what I was going for.

bad example of a townie my dude. cool bag tho

SirSoyrizo 05-30-18 06:23 PM

Dam whatever happened to the real townies. What are these monstrosities? So if I put a brooks saddle on my bike is it townie?

I love this bike. So many things on it shouldn't match, but to me it works and looks well put together. Was it a total loss? It'd be cool if you could save some little odds and ends to transplant on to the new bike.
