To paint my Gitane, or not to paint my Gitane

hey there, my friend just got a free Gitane (Mid 70's) Gypsy frame, but the paint job is pretty ****ed and there are some rust spots. he recently bought another bike and has no need for this one. he decided he wanted to sell it on ebay or craig's list. my question is, should we get the bike powder coated and make it look all pretty, or should we just just keep it the way it is. would he get more money for it with the original, ****ed up paint, or would he get more money by getting it recoated.

if you were going to buy an old bike, would you rather have original paint or a fresh new powder coat.

oh, and, my dad owns his own powder coating business so the job would be free. he won't lose any money by selling it.

The Gypsy isn't high enough in the Gitane food chain to warrant any special treatment. Paint it.

i'd paint it, then again i've spent two years putting off painting my gitane only its not a gypsy, i imagine the new coat would warrant a dime or two more

i'd leave the paint. if you've got the hook up, offer the powdercoat as an add on. i'm always suspicious of resprayed frames.

leave it.. if the new owner wants to do it then let them handle it
