Is a Peugeot a good bike to make a fixie out of?
I am heading to pick up a Peugeot tommorrow and my plans are to make it into a fixed gear. Any comments on using that bike for a fixie? It looks to be in good shape and the owner now has ridden it before.

It is a good bike to make a fixie out of. The older they are the more of a headache they tend to be, as they have less standard parts;

So you can move the wheel back farther to get proper chain tension.

If it's old enough the BB threading will be French, and that may limit your choices in BB spindle lengths, therefore chainline. Other than that it will be good for a conversion.

Relacing the spindles etc is a pain in the shorts. I got a good tip that worked for me. I flipped the axle so the short side was on the drive side and ran the chainring on the outside of the crank, the chainline came out pretty good in my opinion.
