you have to be pretty grossly fat for it not to fit. my friend is somewhere in the 6' and 210+lb range and he slings it around his waist fine. Unless you have a really big gut you should be fine.

If you use the American series 700 long shank (favorite of NY Messengers and shop owners) it will add another 3 inches to the length.

it'll fit around your waist just fine. i'm 33" and usually have to shorten it up by locking it around my waist through interior links.

I have the chain (smaller one) and it fits my 36 inch waist. I have lost weight recently, and it started fitting between size 40's and size 38's. Hope that helps.

The long chains are pretty massive so I don't think you'll have any problems with a 34" waist.

I found the new krypto chains cannot be shortened by locking through interior links. The links are smaller or the shackle is now fatter, as the lock only fits in through the chain ends.

Consequently it kept slipping off my skinny frame. Took me ages to work out how to wear it as a belt, as I thought I was missing something.

My solution was first to use an old toe strap to provide a 'link' where I needed it. Now, I use a fat key ring hoop, which is working great.

Definitely much more comfy wearing the Krypto as a belt than over your shoulder or around your neck.

Don't wear it around your neck, things could go seriously bad if you get into an accident.

Not that I would recommend it functionally or fashionably ....If you must wear it around your waist ....

If it is too short, you can add a carabener (please I can't spell it, but you know what I mean) for extra length. It will also make it easy to clip on and off. However, remember to take the "beaner" with you or make sure you don't lock to it ..

cheers

fixedpip - my solution was to cut off 3 links with an abrasive cutting wheel. yes, they can be cut without too much trouble. i have the fahgettaboudit, not the standard new york chain, too.

See thats what everyone likes about you Shants. No messing around, you just get in there and do it. I should follow your lead as the chain is so much longer than anyone needs.

But considering its just taken me three years to build up to the courage to butcher my junk old brooks saddle, I'm not holding my breath.

the great thing about wearing a chain as a belt is that no matter how minor your accident is, you're guaranteed at least one major bruise!

I was kind of hoping for a chain shaped mark. I guess my fat wrapped around the chain between the two bruises? It was a pretty nasty spill. Tore through a Castelli windbreaker and a T-shirt. If you look at my knuckles you can see where I tore through my gloves.
