dialing in chain line
 

Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me out with a problem. I am building up a bike I just painted( Schwinn Le Tour) and I am having problems with the chain line. As you can tell from the pics, the rear cog needs to be spaced out more. My question is how do I do this? The Hub is a Suzie 3 L if that helps. Thanks for the help.

It appreas you are not working with full on horizontal dropouts there cowboy... you may have to get an Eno hub. Or put some track ends on that bad boy.

the dropouts don't have anything to do with the chainline, they have to do with limited gearing selections

I don't know the terminology but the way my converted single speed is, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/eric07/wtf.jpg that is on the opposite side of the hub from the freewheel and the wheel has been dished

From the pictures it looks like the cog has to go out. You need to take washers/spacers from the cog side of the hub and move them to the non-cog side. Then you have to redish the wheel, which will actually make it stronger because you are removing dish.

Huh, I didnt know you could move that spacer to the other side. Thanks a lot for the help guys. Ill post some pics when Im done with the conversion:)

Can't tell you for sure that moving the spacer to the other side will give you the right chain line, but the idea is to move washers,spacers to the other side. You may have to junk the spacer and replace it with washers, and then move washers over a few at a time until you get the right chain line.

Ok, thanks. Ill play around with it. I just thought that the spacer was a permanent thing at first. Thanks for the help:)
