Stem Size
 

Is going from a 110mm stem to a 100mm stem going to make that big of a difference or should I go for a 90mm? I'm a bit more stretched out than I like and want to get a smaller stem. There aren't really any bike stores that stock many stems to try them out, so that's why I'm asking.

90mm might be too short. I would go to the 100mm.

That's what I was thinking because 90mm is pretty damn stubby.

I've responded a few times to members asking about stem length,debates have ensued.I maintain that,if possible,avoid longer than 120.If you feel the need for more than 120,your frame is too small.Longer stems add to the caster principle somewhat.They can help you keep the bike feel "locked sraight"which is good.110 helps in that way,it also gives the bike normal feel to the steering and is nicer for out of the saddle moves than the really long ones.100 is spec'd by Co's that have a longish top-tube on the med.-large frames. 90 may have a special purpose,it just seems stubby,like the man said,it's odd to even visualize.I believe it would make the bike handle nervously. I've switched one bike to a 100 from a 140,just this week,I nailed it for a change.
