is this a problem?

i replaced the fork on my bike with one that had a hole for a brake instead of drilling it.

the fork is about 1 cm longer than my old fork measured from top of crown race (i think that's what it's called) to hub center.

aside from changing the geometry a little. is this going to be a problem? one shop said i'll break my bike.

thank you very much.

Sounds like you put a 27" fork onto a 700c frame. I've done it the other way and not had a problem, but not this way. Can't imagine it's that big an issue. What was that naysayer shop guy on?

Time for a new shop :)

I don't see how a 1 cm change in geometry would cause your frame to break...

not necessarily... a better guess would be the track fork just has less clearance

Dude, you're gonna break your bike. Bikes are fragile.

that would be the coolest thing ever. i get to tell all my friends how my 110 pounds broke steel tubing. i'll almost be like a miniature superman.

i guess i shouldn't sweat it.

Not only will it break, it will implode and maim anyone within a ten-foot radius.

I'm looking for a undrilled fork. Any chance you want to get rid of it?
