SDFixed comes back once every few drivechain cleanings and bumps mayo's stuff. I like it because I get to read mayo's work again, but I really like it because SD obviously cares enough to bump someone else's thread so others can enjoy it.

I have been riding for a while... frequenting this forum often. Almost waiting for the right time to take the time and sign up. I read this post and felt obligated to sign up. That is one of the greatest things I have ever read. Well done.

My high school was a lot the same really. I wouldn't be able to go into detail like you did cause it would be boring as hell. I think I sat in the middle of the sports kids and the "losers", where nobody would make fun of me but no one gave a damn either. Those years had nothing at all for me until I picked up cycling late in my senior year. I feel like I can kinda of relate. I don't mean to be a jackass and take the thread with a "I have better story than you whatnot" I guess it goes without saying that cycling does some amazing things.
Thank you for the story btw

Team sports were never for me either. I live in hockey central (Toronto, Canada) and it's hard to go out to any bar without being surrounded by hockey fans and televisions blasting hockey at you all the time.
My sports are snowboarding, skateboarding and BMX (when I was a scrawny teenager) and now windsurfing and cycling. I don't play well with others, I would rather compete against myself.
Great read.

Couple days ago I got an email from a moderator saying he may need to clean up some of my posts. As I hadn't been around me, I didn't know exactly what he was talking about. A second email revealed it was some of these old posts. Got me to thinking, does anyone still read these things?
Then I got an email from Karstens and it all fell into place.
Glad to know people enjoy the stories. Makes the effort worthwhile.

Mayo,
I've copied several of them to a word doc so I could read on the road. I really enjoy your writing style and wish you would continue to grace us with the occasional story.

feel like an old fart around here. oh,if I could turn back the clock.
If I write something it'll be about vanishing youth, jabs of regret, untaped potential, and the sour feeling that the older you get the less choices you have.
Then again, I'm having a bad day.

I wonder if there are still copies of the book floating around? I would love to get my hands on one. Anyway, cheer up Mayo.

If the mods start cleaning this up, it's going to be the biggest tragedy of bikeforums ever.

gotta love the new moderating...trading birds for coffee.
Sure, Bikeforums is now an "owned" entity (Internet Brands), but I would hope that if a thread/post stood in the past, it would stand in the present. This place is getting ridiculous on all fronts.

Mayo,
I read your book several years ago and even emailed you and asked if you were writing for any blogs, I think you were doing some cyclocross thing in Chicago at the time. Anyways, if you ever decide to pick up the pen again, let us know.
We the people are hungry for good literature, but are even hungrier for inspiring cyclists.
