how to prep frame for powdercoating?

aside from stripping it down to just frame and Fork, is there anything else I need to do? should I watch out for anything? I think that I found a place to do it locally, but I can't call them till tomorrow.

Usually, powdercoaters can prep the frame themselves inclusive of sand-, bead-blasting or chemical stripping (recommended for thin walled tubing. Make sure you plug the holes (bb shell, seatpost, headtube, brake) with something heat resistant or you will have problems later.

if they aren't supper experienced in doing frames it might by worthwhile to mask it yourself so there is no chance of them accidentally coating/blasting the threads.

Make SURE, they know what to mask - you can tell if they have experience doing frames or not. The place I went to near Toronto had experience doing it, they knew exactly what to mask (threads and other parts) and the guy doing the powdercoat seemed very knowledegeable.

If in doubt, ASK!
