there is anarchy but there is also order
there is complexity but there is also simplicity
there is a way to increase word count which sounds alright but there is a lack of overall coherence and comprehensive structure

Well this fixed gear article does have one thing going for it, at least it is a trend that exists. Perhaps unlike a few trend pieces written by Stephanie Rosenbloom.

Yeah, I picked up the NYT this morning and it said that apparently a lot of young people have been seen walking around certain neighborhoods in New York City sporting shaggy haircuts and listening to music that bears a resemblance to late 70s and early 80s postpunk. Can anybody confirm this?

Jocko did the best he could under the circumstances. The interactive is really done well by a couple of people in the know. Nice picture of the Shimano product - now can Shimano sponsor my childrens program - or possibly my junior program - or anything at all. Just what was the average profit margin for Shimano last year?

I live in New York and SoCal both and Hillcrest SD looks just like the lower manhattan. Short haircuts and 70-80's music and all. There were more peirced - dyed hair - messenger bags at opening night SD velodrome watching us in the stands them on any given street on the lowereast side.

It is easier than you think to inflict tremendous amounts of wear in a short time while messengering, especially in bad weather.

Personally, I agree with most folks here who thought the Times story was pretty poor, but enjoyed the interactive part.

In my experience working on geared and fixed bikes:
After working in the rain and or snow all day on a geared bike you must clean and adjust your pads cables derailleur, etc.
The fixed gear requires little or no maintenance in comparison.
I got to say after a hard days work I don't want to **** with my bike too much!
