Her new fg.
Well not new new, new to her. 50cm yakota ladies frame. So it's not some ultralight aluminium track bike or anything but it really surprised me how light the thing is considering it's steel and dirt old. It must weigh around 18lbs, which is a helluva lot lighter than most of today's budget and even moderately priced bikes considering this thing is built up from some pretty cheap (i.e relatively heavy components).
She's relatively short at 5' but the 175mm pedals give her a lot of leverage to drive the 44x16 drive train. She can stop from around 15mph pretty well w/o the brakes on her first shot and the wheel base is so long that there's pretty much no toe overlap. So if you see a little short girl riding by, say hi. If you see someone else riding it, it's STOLEN! http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/9445/yakotats4.jpg |
I didn't follow up on the other thread. Did you get Powerstraps?

track pedals would have a shorter platform, mks sylvans, there's also the one sided mks gr-9s which are pretty short and are less expensive than the sylvans

Oh I didn't see the picture before.
Looks awesome. I bet she is really happy... I would be :D. |
Cute bike, I actually kind of like the mismatched look of the fork/frame/tape/wheels having different colors. Very playful, hope she has tons of fun on it.
|
esp now seeing the set up of the bike i would encourage the use of a rear brake. rear brake OR straps...the logic is that the lack of straps will make it harder to pull up to backpedal. a front brake is OK but a full set up would make more sense inmynotsohumbleopinion.
looks great. im glad she loves it. |
That bike would look glorious with a back brake. I would put one on personally.
|
Well the thing with the back brake is that I have like, a black 105 dual caliper, which looks completely wrong and lightyears ahead of the cheapo brake on the front plus only 1 brake lever...

bad ass !! =)))
Might want to put a front fender on it if its a townie like I think you said in the other thread, so she can keep her feet dry after it rains, but probably not too important. |
Is that seat tube bent? Or is it just the angle the pic was taken from?
|
the micro fender completes the look
