On the rim's side sticker it says "Weinmann DP 18 ultimate power -- DP 18 -- Aluminum Alloy 6061-T6 Double Wall Safety Line". Also, there seems to be a pretty obvious seam where the rim was joined and I though I remember reading here that V's weren't joined like that.

Is this just how some sellers re-sell Velocity Deep V's or did I just get the wrong wheels shipped to me?

those aren't the Velocity brand's Deep V's. They're Weinmann's.

You got weinmann deep V's, which may be what you ordered -- where did they come from?

Also, Velocity rims are pinned, not welded, so there will be a visible joint in them.

I just got off the phone with the-place-I-ordered-from (who shall remain nameless until they fix all of this and I can say so) and they admitted they screwed up and are working to get everything resolved.

I honestly thought this was a sick joke at first! This is very interesting. At least the guy with the Deep Vs owned up and notified the company, so he has no need to feel guilty.


Glad to hear the company is sending the correct rims. Are they going to send you a pre-paid return box or will they let you keep the Weinmanns?

sounds like a bunch of us need to order a bunch of deep vs and weinmanns and see how many free sets of rims we can get out 'em.

update: I just got off the phone with them (Wheel&Sprocket) and they are being really good about all of this. When I called them initially to report it, they were extremely apologetic and promised to make it right as quickly as possible - and they did. They sent out the correct Deep-V's next day so I should be getting them tomorrow and they also included a return sticker for the Weinmanns so I can just send them back. I have to admit, the way these guys have handled this situation is really impressive, sadly much better than any LBS's that I've dealt with in the past...

I know, I thought about seeing if they would cut me a deal on the Weinmanns and I could just keep them as a backup set. They don't seem all that bad....
