haha, i make a relatively modest amount doing unix/network administration. i just keep my living expenses low so that i can waste away all of my cash on bikes and stupid **** like SFII arcade machines.

We get them too, but my cat eats them. I find random legs here and there in my basement.

I don't think I've ever been this turned on.

I buy a lot of older road/MTB bikes at thrift stores, garage sales, CL, etc. for cheap. I put the time and money needed to get them on the road and resell them on CL. I also sell frames/forks or parts to people that want to do their own work. Previous customers of mine ask if I have something they are looking for first instead of checking out the LBS. I sold three frames/forks, some parts to go with one of them, and a complete fixed gear conversion within the last few days.

Are you refering to the cheap harbor-freight T-handle hex set on the table? I never use those. I have a Bondhus hex wrench set that is on the Park stand and a Craftsman 3/8 drive hex socket set hangin on the peg board.

chunts 05-13-07 11:49 PM

This is in my garage, but when I move in August, I will probably be in an apartment without a garage, so I'll need something relatively compact and easy to move around. Hence, the wheeled toolbox with a workspace on top and the four bike rack. Also, my wheel truing stand is in the living room right now because I like to watch TV while building and truing wheels, which I've been doing recently.

Yeah, I meant in reference to my world of carpentry. The last thing I cut on the laguna bandsaw was a 12" high and about 12" wide piece of foam crown molding for a show. our laguna table saw has been out of commission for probably a total of a month since january, such a piece of junk.

I believe it actually came from a local post office when they remodeled many many years ago (decades). All of the stuff behind the table with tool box picture is crates and crates of stained glass. My mom hasn't done any stained glass in many many years so I took over the area and that storage unit.

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/204/4...a13adda8c8.jpg

The above storage unit use to be one piece. It was a 4'x4' square with drawers on each side. The neighbor was throwing it out and I wanted it for the basement shop. My Dad and I tried to carry it downstairs, but it wouldn't fit (and it is heavy as all hell!!). So we chopped it in half and I built a support for the top unit. It had casters so I moved them to the bottom unit and screwed and nail gunned both together as one. It is full of parts and can be rolled easily by one person. The top has a bunch of my own nice parts on it.

My organization still sucks, but it is getting better. I have worked on it the past couple of weeks trying to get everything organized. And, just think ALL of this has been collected in just over a year (except for the two 29er MTBs in the pics). I need help!!!!! Anybody in S.E. Michigan looking for any parts!

Grand Bois 06-20-07 06:42 AM

It hasn't been this neat since the day I took the picture.

As for me my shop is packed up.

It's a House Centipede, they get more legs with every molt (i think of to 13 pairs for this species). They are predators, eating insects, in your basement. they are harmless to you unless you grab it, when it might give you a bite, which will probably hurt (I've never tried to get bitten by one to find out) but is otherwise harmless.

Imagine one trying to ride a bike, Is there a word for a 13 crank-set tandem style bike, or is it just a "13 person tandem"?

I ever hardly post comments, but for the love of GOD, that my friend is a shop, not a garage!! Nice indeed.

Bicimechanic77 07-29-07 07:05 PM

This is what happens when you work in shops for 15 yrs. And wrench for a few teams. And generally live and breath bikes full time for a decade. Now its a hobby and I love it more then ever!:D

estratton 07-29-07 09:34 PM

Your work area reminds me of my dad and cars. He's about to put in a lift so he can do more work himself.

He appreciates my bikes and such however.
