It's a right of passage that US High School students go through. They get incredibly drunk on cheap vodka/beer and have sex with the "loves of their lives." This is usually done as a nice send off before college, and the student and his date attempt to continue a relationship that is destined for failure. Since the people having sex are in high school, a fair amount of females get knocked up on prom night. It's pretty much the best thing ever.
