What happens on the first day of riding brake-less?

Other than a bunch of close calls, two broken spokes...

At least i learned how to replace some spokes (easy as pie, eating it...).

I broke a spoke on the way to the lbs to check prices on a rear wheel build (since they don't get factory track wheels). As i was checking the ture(ness) of the wheel after replacing the spoke an other popped... replaced that one, and so far so good.

break-less? Does that mean you had two breaks and now you only have one, making your total break count less than previous?

Do you mean the sort of accidents that happen on the first day of riding your fixie without brakes?

sounds like you're running a subpar setup, brakeless riding isn't anymore likely than braked riding to break spokes.

Sure? I broke the spokes on the non drive side of the rear wheel, if that helps... If it were on the drive side i would have a hell of a time take the lock ring/cog off.

The wheel is from a fuji track, if thats sub-par, well too bad for me.

The spokes are butted, they get thinner in the middle of the spoke, i think it looks cool that way.

There's a lot more to it than that. They are also supposed to flex more than straight gauge spokes which helps prevent spokes from braking. You should probably check the tension on your wheels to prevent further breakage.

LBS I work with has had some issues with getting wheels with a bad batch of spokes from Fuji. Perhaps the problem affected the track as well.

heh, i rode brakeless for the first time at length. did a quick 15 miles through a lot of traffic. it was fun. honestly though, i don't have a brake right now because i just got new bars and need a new lever for them. a brake will be on there very very soon.

thrilling ride nonetheless.
