Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Picked up a fixed gear today

Bike shop owner has a sweet, blue Pinny track bike he uses for his commute. Since he's been riding it, he's always converting old steel bikes into fixed gears. He gave me one to use around town. It's an old, slate-blue, Fuji Regis.

I'm not quite use to this yet, but it sure was fun trying to pedal back to work through intersections and traffic lights.

Yes, a front brake.

I'm looking forward to getting this puppy out downtown to run some errands at work.
Also, looking forward to fixing her up as well.
