having a heck of a time finding polished rims...

i have been searching all over for polished 32h clinchers something low profile or aero, can't seem to find anything.

anyone have a read on a set?

andre nickatina 05-24-07 09:35 PM

polish them up yourself...

SugarPILL 05-24-07 09:47 PM

ok, maybe i could do that, sounds like some serious effort...

Velocity Deep V's can be ordered polished. Speak to your Local bike shop.

My wheels is scratched so i am thinking about polishing myself by using 2000grit sand paper get rid of some minor scratch and some 1000grit for some deep scratch. Then some hand polish action. I wonder would it work .....

it's going to be hard to find a polished rim unless you want to go with vintage stuff..
ever since the hard anodizing craze in the 80s, most all rims are anodized

the only company i know still offering polished rims is Sun.. and they are usually heavy or ugly..
CR-18, Rhynolite, M13II (27")

polishing yourself would mean first stripping the anodizing or powdercoat..

I am planning on getting a pair of polished Velocity Aeros.

lymbzero 05-26-07 10:57 AM

There is definitely is a lack of nice low profile rims these days.
Everything newschool seems to be black and aero.

What happened to the classic look?
Things like MA2's, Mavic Open4CD's or old school Arraya's.

I think Ambrossio has something pretty decent the last time I checked.
The velocity's look not half bad too.

Bring it back!

SugarPILL 05-26-07 11:04 AM

those MA2's are so nice, every time I find a pair, they go for big money...

a polished shallow clincher is where its at.. someone needs to be producing them. seems like someone is always looking for some.

MA2's will pop up from time to time on Ebay.
I paid a premium price for my brand pair of new old stock MA2's a couple of years ago....about $100.....was worth it though. :)

You just beat me to it.

Lyn's a nice guy too. Very honest, too honest for some.

Maybe you could attach a polishing wheel to a cordless /corded drill appy paste wax and do it?

JohnnyDoyle 05-27-07 12:16 PM

The drill/polishing wheel/polishing compound thing worked quite well on an old dull set of sugino cranks I had. Be careful not to overpolish if you go that route, though, because you can dull the shine eventually.
